Rehabilitation Plan for Environmental Protection Zone, Taigum

The Village Retirement Group

Gaia Environmental participated in a landscape plan for rehabilitation of an area dedicated to conservation (Environmental Protection Zone (EPZ)) within a large aged care facility development.  Brisbane City Council had approved the development conditional upon the rehabilitation of an EPZ in a low lying area, which was formerly a wetland but is now in poor condition being dominated by exotic landscape species and weeds.  Gaia provided the technical advice for the rehabilitation plan, in terms of management units, staging of works, regeneration and revegetation procedures, maintenance protocols and the recommended species list for planting.  CUSP Landscape Architects packaged the information into a set of scaled plans, including details of planting units, fencing and passive recreation facilities.  The Rehabilitation Plan was subsequently approved by Council and the development commenced.

Wetland Rehabilitation Plan, Richlands

Private client

The client had received conditions of approval from Brisbane City Council for the development of a site at Richlands.  The site is heavily constrained by wetlands and a condition of development was to undertake rehabilitation around the development footprint to create a buffer to the wetlands.  Gaia Environmental Consulting undertook site surveys to identify the native flora present on the site and in the local area.  Gaia then developed a landscaping plan (to scale) and planting palette that worked towards creating an attractive buffer planting within the budgetary constraints of the client.
